1. Easy
You only carry daypacks and always walk on well-defined tracks. We walk up to 7 hours per day, including breaks along the way. Pure walking time is around 4 hours. Average fitness is sufficient to enjoy these tours. All accommodation is in houses.
2. Medium
These tours include our easier trekking tours on which we spend some nights camping (tents or swags). Our bushcamps, which we often have to ourselves, are in beautiful spots within National Parks or on our own private property, but can all be accessed by vehicle. Therefore you only have to carry daypacks on the walks. We walk always on well-defined tracks. We walk up to 8 hours per day, including breaks. Pure walking time is up to 6 hours, often less. While average fitness is still sufficient to enjoy these tours, a willingness and maybe even appreciation of some nights and days with less comfort will let you get the most out of these tours. Our tents are spacious 2-person dome or 1-person tunnel tents.
3.Difficult
This will be a new 3-week trekking tour in 2009. It will include longer day walks and carrying of some camping gear for short distances.
On the harder walks, the tracks on which we walk can be rough or require some rock scrambling, and we climb more than 1,000m altitude on some days. Some of the walks and camps will be in remote areas.
More than average fitness is required to enjoy the tour, along with a good balance. If you appreciate wilderness and are willing to put up with less comfort in exchange for the experience of magnificent places, this is the tour for you!
More challenging days will alternate with easier days which allow you to recover and provide an overall relaxing tour.
